CIBOLA STUDENTS TO GET VACCINES

to handle large numbers of patients as would be
the case in event of a biological terror attack....

Beyond treating the students, public health workers

In an e-zine 2 weeks ago I suspected that science in the case of SARS was once again jumping to conclusions, like it has in the case of HIV (www.duesberg.com) and BSE (www.purdeyenvironment.com). The evidence for this being the case has increased considerably over the past couple of weeks.

Consider the following facts:

In 1996, a normal year, about 4000 people in Hong Kong died of pneumonia (source: www.nomorefakenews.com). No one went into a state of hysteria over it.
The list of SARS symptoms is indistinguishable from the symptoms of ordinary pneumonias and flu.
The Corona virus purported to be causing SARS has not been proven to cause anything yet and is not present in 60% of "SARS" cases in Canada.
So why jump on the bandwagon and worry about this man made epidemic? Free your mind to think of important things while your friends run around hypnotized.

To construct the virus, the researchers say they followed a recipe they
downloaded from the internet and used gene sequences from a mail-order
supplier.
Having constructed the virus, which appears to be identical to its natural
counterpart, the researchers, from the University of New York at Stony
Brook, injected it into mice to demonstrate that it was active.
The animals were paralyzed and then died.

Now that protestors are being mowed down with rubber
bullets, I recall the reports on a peace demonstration in
Boston a few weeks ago - which was allowed to remain
peaceful. Women held signs which read - My Son Is A Marine--
Support the Troops -- Bring Them Home!

This is a sensible response to the overwhelming
hypnotic of war-vision and the mind-numbing effects
of the continual barrage. I have a son-in-law who is
over there, flying above it all, in the middle of the rising
conflict, and of course I have mixed feelings...
I want to support the troops - by BRINGING
THEM HOME! As soon as possible! NOW!

There's some strife being created among friends
and family over this war stuff. I hear about quite
a bit of it because things have gone much farther
now. It was one thing to steal the election with
some very shady stuff with the Supreme Court.
To me that is unforgivable and must be corrected
before we can continue our proper historical
course as the land of the free. But now the junta
has extended its racketeer-style activity to a
global level, and to an even greater degree of
criminality, with its murder of civilians as collateral
damage of its conquest of the oil rich territory.

I am convinced that the only Americans who
support this barbarous carnage in Iraq are
people who believe their TVs. The single most
important point to get across to those innocent
souls who believe in this war is this:
Your TV is lying to you.

Your TV is the communications arm of a cluster
of huge corporations who make even easier
money off of defense expenditures than they
do off their mass hypnosis of the public for the
purposes of the corporate oligarchy that owns
them. They have an agenda, and it is not to keep
you informed. It is to hide from you their criminal
activity.

I recently got an e-mail from a friend who described
some family turmoil arising from opposite positions
on the invasion of Iraq. As I answered her e-mail,
a couple of things became clear to me, pasted
below:

I'm sorry for the turmoil this political stuff is
causing in your life. I do believe this is exactly
what is happening almost everywhere. Politics
is no longer "out there". It's banging down
everyone's door.

I have the same kinds of political differences with
family members whom I love like flesh and blood.
And I am convinced that it is a difference of our
understanding of what is happening rather than
a difference in principle. And it comes down to
the TV. If people get their information from the TV,
then they totally believe in this war because it is
a defense against the people who bombed the
World Trade Center and it's a replay of World
War II with Saddam as Hitler.

It's a total fantasy, but if they watch TV and
believe it, that is their view of the world.

So the one principle we need to try to get across
to our loved ones and other good people who
believe in this war and in this administration is this:
Your TV is lying to you. Once they see correctly
that the TV is the communications arm of a
corporate oligarchy that is actively engaged in
a plan for world domination -- a plan, by the way,
which must be stopped or it will kill all of us, and
already has apparently killed a lot of our spirit.

To think that we can watch as our government
bombs families in another country and just let it
happen is proof enough that we have been
dehumanized, deadened in our emotional reaction
to our world. This is the measure of "the triumph
of the propaganda system", as Chomsky called it.
That they can subdue the population of a supposed
democracy, supposedly a civilized country, shows
how effectively the whole brainwashing effort has
worked.

I was very impressed recently with some recordings
I heard of songs and interviews with Ola Belle Reed,
the bluegrass-mountain music singer-songwriter
of the '50s and '60s, who had a great political
sophistication and class consciousness. Regarding
this problem of trying to help good people understand
how they are being manipulated with lies, you can't
cram it down people's throats, you've got to do it
with love. The point is, most of these good people
would not feel the way they do if they weren't
believing the lies of the American mass media.

So my friendly challenge to people of good will
would be: "Turn off your TV." Give yourself a break
from the battering of war propaganda. Then start
reading a broad sampling of world media, depending
on what you can get hold of. Anyone with Internet
access can get to some of these headline link sites
like Buzzflash.com or Bushwatch.com and get a
great selection of news stories and editorials from
around the world, but with a countercorporate spin.

Today walking into CVS I see a row of newspapers
with massive color photos of GI Joes outfitted with
frightening looking weapons, looking like the most
refined killing machines every created out of human
flesh. They are in Baghdad, the headlines pound.
Iraqis are fleeing the city, God bless them. And what,
this is supposed to make me happy? Proud to be
an American?

Disinfecting the Germ Theory
Watching television, you’d think we lived at bay, in total jeopardy,
surrounded on all sides by human-seeking germs, shielded against
infection and death only by a chemical technology which enables us
to keep killing them off. We are instructed to spray disinfectants
everywhere, into the air of our bedrooms and kitchens and with
special energy into bathrooms, since it is our very own germs that
seem the worst kind. We explode clouds of aerosol, mixed for good
luck with deodorants, into our noses, mouths, underarms, privileged

potent antibiotics to minor scratches and seal them with plastic.

microbes are always trying to get at us, to tear us from cell to cell, and
we only stay alive and whole through diligence and fear.

We still think of human disease as the work of an organized, modernized
kind of demonology, in which bacteria are the most visible and centrally
placed of our adversaries. We assume that they must somehow relish what
they do. They come after us for profit, and there are so many of them that
disease seems inevitable, a natural part of the human condition; if we
succeed in eliminating one kind of disease, there will always be a new one
at hand, waiting to take its place.

These are paranoid delusions on a societal scale, explainable in part by
our need for enemies, and in part by our memory of what things used
to be like.

In real life, however, even in our worst circumstances we have always
been a relatively minor interest of the vast microbial world. Pathogenicity
is not the rule. Indeed, it occurs so infrequently and involves such a
relatively small number of species, considering the huge population
of bacteria on the earth, that it has a freakish aspect. Disease usually
results from inconclusive negotiations for symbiosis, an overstepping
of the line by one side or the other, a biologic misinterpretation of
borders.

This narrative was written immediately following my return from Total
Health 2003-anÊ alternative medical conference in Toronto, Canada,
held March 27-30, 2003. I landed in Toronto the day that SARS began
dominating front page headlines in every major newspaper in the
country. Five consecutive days of unprecedented media blitz in
Canada's largest city over the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome left
the entire population frightened and bewildered.

Having been well-trained in media health promotion and persuasion
methods from my behavioral science studies at Harvard University, I
concluded that something akin to a social experiment was underway.
With SARS, people were being frightened beyond reason, I realized.
The classic definition of phobia was being manifested on a social, if
not global, scale.

Surely the SARS death rate, approximately 3%, was insufficient cause
for such widespread panic. The media successfully whipped the
Canadian population into a trembling mass of masked and
quarantined "sheeple." Officials were forced to direct the closing of
hospitals, restaurants, schools, and workplaces with only two deaths
reported at the onset of the media onslaught. Within a few days, more
than a thousand healthcare workers volunteered for home quarantine
because of SARS. Otherwise, they faced legal arrest and incarceration
as advised by the World Health Organization. You will find many of
these reports from Canada's daily newspapers, documenting these
facts, as well as incoming American press reports, in the archive

Mission

I have dedicated this website to examining the social and political
implications, as well as the correlates (i.e., things related to) and
antecedents (i.e., factors or events that predated or precipitated)
this new SARS pandemic. By examining this illness's etiology, which
lies more in the realm of global politics, corporate profits, and
population control, than elsewhere, this information offers educated
people an alternative to the fright and irrational behaviors
promulgated by "mainstream" propagandists including news sources and
health officials better known as "spin doctors."

Most intelligent persons will conclude from the following information
that this new microbial attack was premeditated and precedent-
setting. In other words, SARS is a well orchestrated social
experiment.

Who is behind this SARS madness? I accept the risk of triggering
your "conspiracy theory" buttons by identifying the widely
recognized "global military-medical-petrochemical-pharmaceutical
cartel" as the only suspect that can wield the powers necessary to
effect these frightening outcomes.

Although you may find it comforting to simply consider this a
conspiracy theory, I view SARS is a huge conspiracy with very few
witting villains. Clearly, what you are witnessing is a well
organized terror campaign carried out by mostly well-meaning, yet
grossly ignorant, "authorities"-medically indoctrinated and virtually
hypnotized "Manchurian candidates" if you will allow me to postulate.

Indeed, people are dying from SARS. Yet, I diagnose this illness, by
medical-sociological parameters, as a grotesque scam perpetrated for
a greater purpose than simply fueling a multi-billion dollar "cottage
health industry," as some analysts have written.

Alternatively, I propose that Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, may
be best diagnosed by SARS's telltale dependence on the propaganda
used to herald its presence, prompt hysteria, and broadly engage
social and economic resources. In military intelligence circles this
is called standard "psychological operations" (PSYOPs).

I further suggest this fright's likeliest purpose is in facilitating
evolving economic and political agendas that ultimately include
targeting approximately half the world's current population for
elimination. Much of this will be accomplished, not with SARS, but
quite effectively and efficiently by the widely anticipated "Big One"
discussed later on this website in a feature article written for the
Associated Press by Emma Ross.

This concept of a microbiological Armageddon is not new to most
readers. "Experts" have been predicting the arrival of a super-plague
for decades. What is HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS about the mysterious and
terrifying arrival of SARS is its timing. It arrived virtually
synchronous with the global war on terrorism, and the Anglo-American
war with Iraq. This is pathognomonic (i.e., symptomatic and
characteristic) of what is predicted and explained in the book, Death
in the Air: Globalism, Terrorism and Toxic Warfare (Tetrahedron
Publishing Group, 2001;

prophetically-titled text that predated the 9-11 attacks on America
by several months, and provides a contextual analysis of this current
condition and spreading plague of phobic deception.

This work, and this SARS website, in essence, offers insight into the
broad application of a new form of institutionalizedÊ "bioterrorism"
consistent with state sponsored biological warfare. Saddam Hussein is
said to have exposed populations in his and adjacent lands with
biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction. These advancing
infectious disease attacks in North America are sanctioned by medical-
pharmaceutical and allied military industrialists. They complement
the global "War on Terrorism," and bioterror-influenced culture, as
additionally profitable, population-controlling, threats.


Perceiving Harsh Reality Versus Generally Promoted Myths

What lay persons view as ever increasing madness in the world around
them, is eerily consistent with earlier globalist think tank
recommendations for the development and deployment, in the new
millennium, of "conflicts short of war," and "economic substitutes
for standard militarization." These developments were adequately
detailed and referenced in Death in the Air: Globalism, Terrorism,
and Toxic Warfare

compared with the first and second world wars, these smaller, more
manageable, and better controlled conflicts, orchestrated events, and
state sponsored threats, were consistently selected options among
foreign policy makers and government officials beginning in the late
1960s.

Henry Kissinger, for instance, as National Security Advisor (NSA)
under Richard Nixon, oversaw foreign policy while considering Third
World population reduction "necessities" for the U.S., Britain,
Germany, and other allies. This Bush nominee to direct the 9-11
conspiracy investigation, a reputed war criminal, then selected the
option to have the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) develop
biological weapons, according to the U.S. Congressional Record of
1975. Among these biologicals were germs far deadlier than the SARS
agent (thought to be a strain of coronavirus). Under Kissinger's
watch as NSA, influenza and parainfluenza viruses were, for example,
recombined with quick acting leukemia viruses (acute lymphocytic
leukemia) to deliver a weapon that potentially spread cancer like the
flu. (More on this later.) These incredible realities have been
generally neglected, if not officially secreted.

Weapons selections like these continue to the present day not simply
by radical terrorist groups, but also among a handful of military
cartel industrialists that continue to sell weapons of mass
destruction to those who can afford them.

These conflicts short of major wars like WWI and WWII, and war
economy substitutes (such as the "War on AIDS," "War on Crime," "War
on Drugs," "War on Terrorism," "War on Cancer," the environmental
protection movement, and the "Star Wars" Strategic Defense
Initiative, all require sophisticated propaganda programs employing
fear campaigns for social acceptance and popular support. These
PSYOPS for command and control warfare (C2W), military and behavior
experts correctly advise, best support a well-defined rapidly
evolving "Revolution in Military Affairs" (RMA) which is synonymous
to a the evolution into "a form of human slavery" in which the
captives-the world's population, including you and your loved ones-
would not perceive this enslavement.

The RMA incorporates the use of debilitating biological weapons and
incapacitating chemicals, similar to the toxic carcinogenic
organophosphate pesticides deployed against mosquitoes in the "War
Against the West Nile Virus." These are often called "non-lethal
warfare" agents, yet are indeed deadly. Death results slowly along
with advancing mortality from such toxic exposures. Larger profits
are made by allied pharmaceutical and medical industrialists as
victims of the "non-lethal" exposures die slowly, commonly in
expensive hospitals and long-term care facilities, from chronic
debilitating diseases. Most of these ailments, including the plethora
of autoimmune diseases and newer cancers, were virtually non-existent
50 years ago. This fact, lone, strongly suggests a modern socio-
economic and political conspiracy. Unless you simply wish to believe
it is God's will or man's greed that has brought these conditions to
bear upon humanity.

"People are all too willing to relinquish their civil rights and
personal freedoms in the wake of such engineered frights."


In recent decades, military think tanks prescribed options
for "conflicts short of war" that included novel population control
policies and methodologies. These provided for:

1) the establishment of new profit centers as traditional large-scale
wars were phased out by the new millennium.Ê Examples here include
the many multi-billion dollar "homeland security" programs that
emerged from post-9/11 legislation, such as those securing air travel
and mail delivery. These are just two examples of myriad evolving
profit centers fueled by frights and institutionalized terror
campaigns;

2) the development of advanced persuasion and population control
programs, with high tech methods of support, to facilitate "a form of
slavery" in which humanity would not realize it had become
conditioned into relinquishing personal and social freedoms for the
mirage of health, safety, and security. These provided other profit
centers and population control options. Once habituated to modern
lifestyle restrictions, such as enforced health and travel
restrictions, the general population might become
virtually "enslaved" with little effective resistance, widespread
pharmaceutical dependence (particularly using anti-depressant drugs),
through the use of PSYOPs. Media distractions and manipulations were
considered essential in achieving this objective; and

3) lucrative depopulation methods to be employed, including the
conditions and resources necessary for culling "excess populations."

SARS, when considered in light of these social and political
impositions, can be clearly understood.

SARS for Profit


By Friday, March 28, 2003, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute in
Washington, Michael Fumento, published a thesis in Toronto similar to
the one I advance here. This well regarded author of The Myth of
Heterosexual AIDS: How a Tragedy Has Been Distorted by the Media and
Partisan Politics (Regnery Gateway, 1990) provided an editorial
titled "Super-bug or Super Scare"Ê published in the National Post (p.
A16.). This included the following:

It's "an incident of unprecedented scope and magnitude," according to
Toronto health officials, who warn Canadians to "quarantine
themselves," wear masks, and in some cases stay home. Ontario Health
Minister Tony Clement has declared a "health emergency." The meda
have dubbed it the "mysterious killer pneumonia" or "super-
pneumonia."
But a bit of knowledge and perspective will kill this panic.
Start with those scary tags, "Mysterious" in modern medicine usually
means we haven't yet quite identified the cause, although we have now
done so here. What's been officially named Severe Acute Respiratory
Syndrome (SARS) is one or more strains of coronavirus, commonly
associated with colds. "Killer pneumonia" is practically a
redundancy, since so many types of pneumonia (there are more than 50)
do kill.
The real questions are: How lethal, how transmissible, and how
treatable is this strain? And the answers leave no grounds for
excitement, much less panic.
Super?
At this writing, SARS appears to have killed 54 people out of almost
1,400 afflicted according to the World Health Organization, a death
rate of less than 4%. But since this only takes into account those
ill enough to seek medical help, the actual ratio of deaths to
infections is certainly far less. [This is a tremendous
understatement.]
In contrast, the 1918-1919 flu pandemic killed approximately a third
of the 60 million afflicted.
Further, virtually all of the deaths have been in countries with
horrendous medical care, primarily mainland China. In this country,
three people have died out of 28 afflicted according to Health
Canada, but that may say more about Canada's vaunted national health-
care system than about SARS. In the United States, 40 people have
been hospitalized with SARS with zero deaths.
Conversely, other forms of pneumonia kill more than 40,000 North
Americans yearly.
Transmissibility?
Each year millions of North Americans alone contract the flu. Compre
that with those 64 SARS cases diagnosed thus far and, well, you can't
compare them. Further evidence that SARS is hard to catch is that
health care workers and family members of victims are by far the most
likely to become afflicted.
Treatability?
"There are few drugs and no vaccines to fight this pathogen," one
wire service panted breathlessly. But there are also few drugs to
fight any type of viral pneumonia, because we have very few antiviral
medicines. . . .Ê [Consider also approximately 97% of cases naturally
defended themselves successfully against this plague. What did they,
or their immune systems do right? Why is this rarely, if ever,
mentioned or investigated by any mainstream source? Alternatively,
Mr. Fumento mentions "Ribovirin," which he states, "appears to be
effective against SARS."

[Is this another form of medically-sanctioned institutionalized bias
that even the well- intentioned Fumento expresses? Consider the fact
that SARS only existed a few weeks prior to Fumento's editorial. In
fact, the coronavirus had been questionably cultured from SARS
patients only days before Fumento's wrote the above. Surely no
clinical trials matching Ribovirin with SARS had ever been conducted.
At best, then, this statement reflects either drug company propaganda
and/or health official speculations.]

Fumento continued:

"So why all the fuss over this one strain of pneumonia?
First, never ignore the obvious: It does sell papers.
But an added feature to this scare is the cottage industry that's
grown up around so-called "emerging infectious diseases." Some
diseases truly fit the bill, with
AIDS the classic example. Others, like West Nile Virus in North
America, are new to a given area.
But there's fame, fortune, and big budgets in sounding the "emerging
infection" alarm and warning of our terrible folly in being
unprepared. The classic example is Ebola virus, . . . [Mr. Fumento
downplays the Ebola threat here.]
Yet, you'd almost swear that every out break of Ebola is actually
taking place in Toronto or New York. . . .
. . . The U.S. government and various North American universities
have also seen these faux plagues as budget boosters. The U.S.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publishes a journal called
Emerging Infectious Diseases, though in any given issue it's hard to
find an illness that actually fits the definition.
The U.S. Institute of Medicine just issued a report warning that the
United States is grossly unprepared to deal with emerging pathogens.
Soothingly, however, it adds that it's nothing that an injection of
tax dollars can't cure.
Meanwhile, a disease that emerged eons ago called malaria kills up to
2.7 million people yearly. Another, tuberculosis, kills perhaps three
million more. Both afflict North Americans, albeit at very low rates.
The big money and headlines may be in the so-called 'emerging
diseases,' but the cataclysmic illnesses come from the same old
boring killers. In fact, there may be no fatal illness that will
cause fewer deaths in North America this year than SARS."
Michael Fumento concluded by asking, and challenging you to consider:

"How do our priorities get so twisted? There's your mystery?"


Favored Economic Victims of SARS and Other SCAMS in the RMA

Contrary to Mr. Fumento's well considered conclusion that SARS boosts
budgets of those who sound alarms loudest, the mainstream media has
consistently attempted to have you think otherwise. One article in
Canada's leading financial newspaper, the Financial Post, on March
31, 2003, heralds, "SARS virus begins to take toll on global economy."

With no mention of the far larger number of people and industries
that profit from such plagues, and the fears surrounding them,
reporter Jacqueline Thorpe's editor assigned her to focus on the
airline and tourism industries that are "particularly hard hit." She
wrote:

"Businesses in Singapore have shut down, planes over Hong Kong are
empty and thousands of people in Toronto have been forced into
quarantine as a deadly pneumonia virus adds yet another strain to the
beleaguered global economy.
While severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) may not be as
debilitating as war in Iraq, slumping stock markets or a weak U.S.
labor market, it is already starting to take its toll on some Asian
economies and the long-suffering tourism industry. . . .
In Hong Kong, where the number of infections leapt by 60 to 530 over
the weekend and 13 people have died, economists at JPMorgan Chase
estimate the economy could lose 0.2% to 0.5% of gross domestic
product every month from the drop in tourism and private
consumption. . . .
Businesses in many Chinese shopping districts [in Toronto] have
reported a sharp drop in business.
Dennis Yuent, a merchant in Pacific Mall in Toronto --Ê North
America's largest shopping mall - said his sales have dropped by
about 70% since the SARS scare began."

Notice that the expert bankers at JPMorgan Chase, and Ms. Thorpe,
failed to mention the stunning growth in
medical/pharmaceutical/security/and law enforcement sectors, and the
increase in "gross domestic product" due to SARS and similar scams.

In the weeks and months following the 9-11 attacks on America, I
traced the widely publicized anthrax mailings "mystery" to U.S.
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) commissioned biological weapons
contractors with ties to Britain's MI6, Porton Down, the Anglo-
American pharmaceutical cartel, including the Bayer, Hoecsht, Baxter
and Merck Corporations, and ultimately to George Soros-a global
banking and investment industrialist and chief money manager for
Europe's wealthiest oligarchy-owners of the Genomic Institute that
performed the DNA sequencing on behalf of the anthrax vaccine

China's Threat and the Anglo-American RMA

It seems suspiciously convenient that the travel industry, and Asian
travel in particular, would be the greatest victims at a time when
globalists (i.e., global industrialists including members of the
ultra-rich) have directed military and political policies consistent
with the RMA and "conflicts short of war" agenda. Reducing travel
helps to secure wide ranging RMA objectives.

Think about it. Less mobile populations, and less people in general,
are easier to control, especially with increased exposure to
television while having to waste their time at home. This is entirely
consistent with the "Changing Images of Mankind" advanced by Willis
Harmon for Anglo-American military and business interests. The effect
of this similar to forced "quarantine." Isn't this consistent with
a "form of slavery in which humanity would not know it had become
enslaved?"

People are all too willing to relinquish their civil rights and
personal freedoms in the wake of such engineered frights. The passage
of the infamous "Homeland Security Act" in America, and its
counterpart in Canada, are classic examples of this societal
direction, forced legislation, and egregious manipulation.

How convenient that Asia, and China in particular, is said to be the
origin of this North American scourge at a time when Chinese-Anglo-
American relations are strained to say the least.

In the days preceding the emergence of the first SARS cases, American
raced to the Pacific Rim to impact escalating aggressions on the
Korean peninsula. Communist China-a "most favored" trading partner
with America, is politically allied with several American enemies,
including those said to possess weapons of mass destruction,
including Iraq. Coincidental? Not likely when viewing the larger
political picture involving the Ango-American oligarchy's RMA and
instigated "conflicts short of war."

Ultimately, "We the People" have become the greatest victims of this
latest fright, and the larger political agendas it serves.


The Media's Role in SARS: Setting a Precedent

Consider the fact the media's mainstream has been heavily influenced,
if not entirely controlled, by multi-national corporate sponsors
protecting and advancing the interests of a relatively small number
of global industrialists (I have called "globalists;" and others say
the "ruling elite," or "European oligarchy"). Also recall that the
focus of news providers, on any given day or hour, results from
intelligence agency directives, according to reputable authorities
including myriad retired news officials and intelligence officers. So
ask and answer the following intelligent questions:

* Why have American military officials, beginning with Secretary of
Defense William Cohen during the Clinton years, publicized America's
greatest vulnerability lies in the realm of biological weapons
wielded by terrorists? Is this not a form of treason against the
United States to relay such sensitive intelligence to potential
enemies through the mainstream press? During the McCarthy era,
Hollywood producers were persecuted for having the slightest liberal
or Communist sympathies. What has changed to allow the Hollywood
production of "Black Hawk Down" to be used by Saddam Hussein and his
military and intelligence commanders to educate and inspire his
troops?

* Why does the mainstream media continue to foretell of the expected
arrival of the "Big One"-an influenza virus that will produce a super-
flu that will kill billions of people, like the "Spanish flu" did
between 1918-19, while totally disregarding the individuals,
organizations, and laboratories that have labored to produce these
weapons of mass destruction? Even the devastating Spanish Flu virus
has been, literally, unearthed for further study and, do you suppose,
deployment?

Why was the "Spanish flu" influenza virus called the "Spanish flu"
when it originated, by historic accounts, in Tibet in 1917? It is
said that Spanish newspapers were the only ones reporting on the
great plague due to their neutrality over World War I politics.
However, Spain was as dear to America then as Communist China is to
the United States today. The "Spanish flu" was named such following
two decades of disputes between America and Spain over colonization
of the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii and the Phillippines beginning with
the Spanish American war that ended in the Phillippines in 1902. Does
this history appear to be repeating with the advent of SARS,
allegedly from China?

* If the legions of recognized authorities herald the coming of
the "Big One," why do the same persons disregard this author's
publication of U.S. Government, National Institutes of Health, and
National Cancer Institute documents showing that the U.S. Army's 6th
top biological weapons contractor in 1969-1970 prepared mutants of
influenza and para-influenza viruses recombined with acute
lymphocytic leukemia viruses? In other words, how would you like to
have a strain of the flu that spreads cancer by sneezing? Can you
even rationalize the develop of such a virus-lymphocytic leukemia
that kills most victims in just a few weeks following airborne
transmission?

The "Big One" is Coming


The U.S. Army's 6th top biological weapons contractor in 1969-1970
prepared mutants of influenza and para-influenza viruses recombined
with acute lymphocytic leukemia viruses. In other words, how would
you like to have a strain of the flu that spreads quick killing
cancer by sneezing?

According to most emerging disease experts and government health
officials the 'Big One" might arrive at any time.

Emma Ross of the Associated Press reported on SARS as the World
Health Organization (WHO) launched its "crisis plan to attack" the
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. WHO, as you may recall, is a U.N.
sponsored organization that is rumored to have helped spread AIDS to
Africa by way of contaminated hepatitis B and/or polio vaccinations.
There is a reasonable amount of evidence to support this contention.

More disconcerting, the U.N. is known to be heavily influenced by
Rockefeller family members and corporate interests. History shows
Rockefeller fortunes built the U.N. building in New York City. During
WWII, the Rockefeller family and their Standard Oil Company supported
Hitler more than they did the allies according to court records. One
federal judge ruled Rockefeller committed "treason" against the
United States.Ê Following WWII, according to attorney John Loftus-an
official Nazi war crimes investigator-Nelson Rockefeller persuaded
the U.N.'s South American voting block to favor Israel's creation
only to assure secrecy regarding his support for the Nazis. Earlier
that century, John D. Rockefeller joined Prescott Bush and the
British Royal Family in sponsoring the eugenics initiatives that gave
rise to Hitler's racial hygiene programs. During the same period the
Rockefeller family virtually monopolized American medicine, American
pharmaceutics and the cancer and genetics industries. Today, the
Rockefeller family, foundation, U.N. and WHO remain at the forefront
of administering "population programs" designed to reduce world
populations to more manageable levels. As per a recent advertisement
Foreign Affairs-a prestigious political periodical published by the
David Rockefeller directed Council on Foreign Relations-the U.S.
population is being targeted for a 50% reduction.

"We've never faced anything on this scale with such a global reach,'"
said Dr. David Heymann, of the WHO, regarding SARS.

"This is the first time that a global network of laboratories are
sharing information, samples, blood, pictures," added Dr. Klaus
Stohr, a WHO virologist coordinating labs internationally. "Basically
overnight, there are no secrets, there is no jealousy, there is no
competition in the face of a global health emergency. This is a
phenomenal network.
In one week, the Associated Press reported, the WHO's lab network
had "isolated the SARS virus, produced a preliminary diagnostic test,
and narrowed the virus' identity down to two candidates - neither one
a new strain of influenza. In the following week, various antiviral
drugs were tested as possible treatments.
"Meanwhile, doctors were also sharing information. . . . WHO
coordinated exchanges of symptoms, case histories and possible
treatments. . . . Asian doctors talked about various therapies they
were trying; later, the Europeans and North Americans conferred.

"In eastern Asia - at government invitation - expert field teams of
WHO staffers and scientists from international institutes were sent
to Vietnam, Hong Kong and China to figure out how the disease was
spread, to help treat patients and advise how to control it.

"Aileen Plant, an infectious disease epidemiologist from Curtin
University in Australia, led a dozen experts in Hanoi, one of the
hard-hit areas. Her international team focused on the Hanoi French
Hospital, which closed its doors to new patients and quarantined
those inside. Many of the sick were doctors and nurses. . . ..

"With newly released figures from China, there have been more than
1,500 cases and slightly more than 50 deaths worldwide, including
three in Canada. The WHO believes the disease is generally under
control, but Hong Kong remains a challenge. In mainland China, the
picture is somewhat murky. . . .

"Many inside the WHO see the SARS operation as a kind of dress
rehearsal - 'good practice,' Heymann said - for the Big One, the
inevitable killer flu pandemic that experts say could come at any
time.

"'This isn't the Big One, because I think it's being contained.'"


What You Should Do

The above information has been meticulously documented and referenced

BUSH ISSUES QUARANTINE ORDER ON SARS

April 4. "...executive order Friday allowing the forced quarantine of people suspected of having a mysterious new illness [SARS]...grants authority to Tommy ["I'm not taking the smallpox shot"] Thompson to decide when such a quarantine [of a reluctant citizen with chest congestion] is needed."

The MSNBC and wire service story I'm quoting from also states, with a straight face, paraphrasing "government officials," that Bush's executive order "is not meant to escalate fears in the public's mind..."

What is it meant to do? Stimulate Internet shopping?

The actual executive order directs the "apprehension, detention or conditional release [electronic ankle bracelet?] of individuals [who refuse hospitalization and isolation] to prevent the introduction, transmission or spread of suspected communicable diseases."

Yeah.

The order specifically mentions SARS. This is the first disease added to the government's quarantine list in 20 years.

The supposed trigger for Bush's order was a woman coming back to the US on a plane from somewhere in Asia. She had a cough and a fever. COUGH AND A FEVER. She was told she should go to a hospital and she said no thanks and moved on into the night.

The new quarantine command from the lofty clouds above Mt. White House permits cops to bust a person who has been "exposed," has no symptoms, and "may be infected." HAS NO SYMPTOMS.

Of course, there is no test for infection, because they have no germ.

But wait. They say they do. A member of the coronavirus family. The CDC is going with that.

In fact, government work has begun to develop, you guessed it, a vaccine. With animal tests and all, this could take a year or two. The vaccine will "inoculate against" the coronavirus.

Of course, as Dr. Anthony ("I'm a big shot, please believe I'm a big shot") Fauci, head of the US Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said, if they later figure out that some other virus causes SARS, then they'll scrap all the research and throw millions of vials of vaccine into the garbage.

So far, there are 115 cases of so-called SARS in the US. No deaths.

And, as I've been writing, no proof that something called SARS exists.

Researchers "have a virus" like a homeless person in NYC has a horse running in the Kentucky Derby.

Bush is running neck and neck with Gerald Ford for presidential/medical boob of the last 200 years. But on the quarantine front, he's a leader.

You want a stock tip? Invest in a drug-company that sells over the counter cold and flu remedies. Because everybody and his brother is going to be trying to suppress the hell out of those symptoms, to avoid taking a ride to the isolation ward.

Maybe kids will be turning in their parents. "My daddy's been inserting Nyquil suppositories all day. He won't leave the garage."

April 4. In the wake of my recent SARS articles, I thought I'd spell out how certain medical OPS can work.

Clarity in these matters depends on which end of the telescope you're peering through.

The public sees the gradual and then accelerating spread of a plague or an epidemic or a wave of contagious illness. It looks like there was an origin point with a fanning out from that spot. It looks like people are catching a germ from one another and getting sick. It looks like the medical troops are moving in to try to save the day.

But if it's a planned OP, just the opposite is happening.

And here is one version of such an OP. You select the group you want to debilitate. You invent a list of symptoms, and you keep that list vague.

You go into the group and you find people who have the symptoms. Some of those people will be dying, usually because the water supply there is dirty and the food situation is bad, or because they are taking some very nasty drugs, or because they are working in an ag area where the pesticides are from hell. Or because they have just been shot up with loads of bad vaccines. (In China, areas went through a massive vaccine program about a year ago.)

So you start saying cases that have these vague symptoms actually have QRS, a new disease, and you dispatch med pros to the scene to take blood and look for a new germ.

You announce the probable cause, the germ you settle on.

You develop a blood test for the germ, and you say if the test is positive and the person has a few of these vague symptoms, he has QRS.

You already know that the blood test will read positive for a number a reasons that have nothing to do with this germ. That gives you a nice wide net so you can inflate case numbers and scare everybody and obtain travel bans, and:

You can also give all these cases a DRUG that is very toxic, that in fact produces one or two of the vague symptoms of QRS.

You shove in a new policy. If a person tests positive for the QRS germ, you give him the drug, even if he has no symptoms. You say this is a very smart preventive action.

So now these people who tested positive for the germ but had no symptoms WILL GET SYMPTOMS, because the drug will be causing the symptoms. But you say the symptoms are from the QRS germ.

The drug debilitates or kills people. The group you targeted is in a state of hysteria and fear. Of course, you have other people in this group who are dying because of the original reasons they got sick: starvation, dirty water, bad vaccines, other drugs, pesticides, etc. You call all these people QRS fatalities.

Those cases that recover without taking the QRS treatment you downplay. You don't give them press coverage. You call them weird miracles. You say they never really had QRS.

And if any medical pros stumble across the OP in progress and go public, you discredit them. You take away their funding. You say they are crazy.

Suppose a medical pro, a key figure (dupe) who helped establish the existence of QRS to begin with, wakes up and tries to go public and blow the whistle on some part of the scam.

You kill him.

April 4. Former CIA head James Woolsey recently spoke to a gathering at a teach-in at UCLA. He told students the Cold War was 3 and the war against terrorist nations is 4.

Some say Woolsay is positioning himself for a gig in post-war Iraq.

Funny thing. a few years back he readily admitted that Gulf War 1 was for OIL, and he tried to roll out a new company based on biomass energy as the wave of the future.

I guess that's all gone by the boards now.

Woolsey is for imposing freedom on the Axis of Evil. I wish him good luck. Hey Jim, check out some old Star Treks. The Prime Directive, remember? MOABS and C-4 are not the tools for founding a republic.

SARS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

April 3. I have received much response to my articles on SARS. So I want to provide more information. This does not supplant what I've already written. To access previous articles that are now gone from this page, consult the archive link which has just gone up on the left column.

Health officials are busy tracing SARS through Asian patients in a number of countries, explaining this by pointing to China as the origin point. You know, Chinese people got sick in China or Hong Kong or Singapore, they traveled, they spread the disease to others, especially close friends and family who are also Chinese, etc.

Sounds reasonable. However, there is a built-in factor here that we need to be aware of. Since SARS has not been proved to be one disease at all, and since the symptoms are vague, searching through ANY SPECIALIZED POPULATION will turn up people who have those generalized symptoms: cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, respiratory problems.

It's a piece of sleight-of-hand stage magic. I could invent a disease, call it ABC, offer vague symptoms, say it originated in India, target Indians from London to New York, and begin to investigate Indians and I will DEFINITELY find "cases of ABC." No doubt. None at all. It's a slam dunk. I will find people, Indians, with those symptoms and I will then say they have ABC.

Of course, I will neglect to examine OTHER populations where the very same symptoms also exist, and where they are called DEF or GHI or JKL. Or nothing. Or the flu.

If you know logic, it's called a tautology. You start with an unproven assumption and you end up confirming your assumption by using it as the yardstick. A=A. You can't lose.

It's been pointed out that one or more hospitals have closed in Canada, where the hysteria is very high, and some hospital workers have been quarantined or have voluntarily quarantined themselves. As if this is proof that a contagious plague is spreading.

I must point out that hospital closings do not equal proof that one contagious disease with one cause is afoot.

Even those doctors who assert that SARS is one disease with one cause readily admit that the death rate is somewhere between 2 and 4 percent. This estimate is based on the falsehood that they have discovered most or all of the cases of SARS. Ridiculous. So if you say that there are thousands more people who have SARS who have not been diagnosed, who have not shown up sick at hospitals, you end up with the conclusion that many of these undiscovered cases are very probably not dying. Which pushes the death rate down much further.

Some say that, because the "discoverer" of SARS himself recently died, and because a very few doctors and nurses treating SARS patients have become ill "with SARS," this shows that we are, in fact, dealing with a contagious plague.

I refer back to an earlier piece I wrote. When you do not do a real case study of the ill and dead, you obtain only rumors and conjecture. You are swimming in unfathomable waters. You paint a picture from the imagination. I have learned, through extensive investigation of AIDS cases, that when autopsies and other methods were used, people were surprised to find OTHER unrelated and undisclosed prior health conditions that were, in fact, life threatening. You never know unless you look, very carefully.

Suppose you do find a nurse who has shortness of breath or respiratory problems. Do you jump to the conclusion that she "has SARS," since she was treating a "SARS patient?" By that vague standard, I could show you hundreds of cases of medical workers "with SARS."

Remember, there is no blood test, no diagnostic test at all for SARS. No one has come vaguely close to proving that a virus is on the loose here. So there is nothing to test for.

I have no doubt that people with recognized forms of pneumonia or TB (which regularly kill huge numbers of people around the world) have already been pinned with the SARS label.

There are more questions and more answers, but I'll stop here for now.

April 3. Another aspect: airports can use this pretext to come down harder on travelers and question them more closely about all sorts of matters. Where were you? Whom did you see? What did they say? Why were you there?

Now, on to more research matters. There is much material about SARS and what it may be circulating on the Internet. I want to bring up a few points that are not being discussed. For example, how you decide that a germ, any germ, may be related to illness.

There is a thing called titer. It refers to the numbers of germs present in the body. Let's say we have an ill person, and somebody finds germ X in his system. The next natural question is, how many germ Xs are there? One? Two? Six thousand? Fifty thousand?

Why is that question important? Because it is generally known that a lot of germs have to be present to do anything significant.

If only six germ Xs are there, you have nothing to talk about.

In the case of SARS, where no probable germ cause has been found, there is absolutely nothing to say about titer. "Let's try to figure out how many SARS germs he has in his body even though we don't have a SARS germ." Doesn't work. Not in this universe.

Now, a lot of pure speculations are offered when a new germ may have been discovered. You can always count on that.

"We think that even twelve germ Xs can cause great damage in the body, because we believe they turn inside out and whistle Dixie at a certain frequency that obliterates the liver."

Yes, we think so. We imagine so. We fantasize. But we know nothing.

In the case of HIV, which was never proved to cause anything, all sorts of weird and baseless scenarios were posited. HIV started a cascade of reactions in the body that resulted in the body attacking itself. HIV was hiding in the macrophages (certain immune system cells) and covertly destroying them like a stealth bomber. HIV was hiding in the spinal fluid and floating into the brain and wreaking havoc.

Compelling science fiction. People resonated with these ideas. But nothing was ever proved. It was on the order of saying, "The light from planet Lufoo is melting neural connections."

All these scenarios were floated because no one could actually find many HIVs in the body, and that was disturbing. How could HIV be causing lethal damage if there were so few of them?

In the case of SARS, we are nowhere near that stage of lying. We are still in the stage of lying about having a possible germ to look at. We are still in the stage of lying about SARS being one unique disease condition at all.

And yet people are taking off and flying with the premise that SARS IS, in fact, a unique disease condition, and it is caused by a germ somebody designed in a lab.

Wow.

Now, I understand that the designer germ works if you see that SARS is very useful for keeping people in a state of fear and repression. You think, "Since this is a political OP, we must have a germ designed to achieve that effect."

But, as I've been writing since 1987, such an OP is better launched and controlled BY NOT HAVING ANY GERM AT ALL. That's right.

All you do is roll together lots of DIVERSE and DIFFERENT illness in many people, you call it SARS or AIDS or CFIDS or OOBLADEE, you get that name plastered on, and then everybody stands up and salutes and says VOILA, we have a new disease and it's horrible and we need a DRUG to treat the one killer germ. The drug always turns out to be highly toxic, and causes some of the very symptoms you're trying to cure. It's magic.

I hope you get this, because some of you are sending me articles about SARS and saying, "See, this is exactly what you're talking about. SARS is a bio-attack launched by a germ invented in a lab."

Hello?

That's not what I'm saying.

Let me continue to build my point. If you are in the business of launching terror through epidemics, and if you are sophisticated, you know that a trillion or ten trillion germs spread out into the environment will produce an unknown effect. It's very iffy. AND THE IDEA THAT YOU REALLY HOLD A SECRET ANTIDOTE IN YOUR HAND AND SAVE IT FOR THE FAVORED FEW---that is a joke.

It doesn't work that way. Antibiotics are a good example. These drugs sometimes knock out bacteria one two three, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes the germs just continue on their merry way. Sometimes the antibiotics cause very bad adverse effects. Gross overuse of these drugs always causes nasty adverse effects, including severe immune suppression and death. And sometimes, although the drugs do knock out the bacteria, they leave the patient in a weakened state.

So the assumption that a magic bullet antidote to a magic bullet designer germ is reliable---that is pure fluff.

No, if you are creating a medical OP, you want to create a new disease LABEL which draws in, like a propaganda magnet, all sorts of diverse and UNRELATED illness conditions. Then you want to sell a drug treatment that will eat the liver and the kidneys. You want to obscure the fact that most of the UNRELATED illnesses were stemming from immune-system weakness, which in turn was brought on by factors like street drugs, medical drugs, vaccines, hunger, junk diets, starvation, protein-calorie malnutrition, contaminated water supplies, intestinal parasites, toxic pesticides, stress, war, grinding poverty, hopelessness, nutritional deficiencies, excess refined sugar, and so on.

By preying on those who are already ill, by renaming their illnesses, by failing to deal with what really caused them to become ill, by treating them with toxic drugs, you can kill them and scare a whole population back into their homes. You can impose travel bans and quarantines, you can pass new laws, you can forward the medical/police state. And if SARS is called a bio-terror attack, you can work that fear angle as well. You can invent and accuse perpetrators and bomb their cities.

If SARS is never called a bio-terror attack, maybe the next GBC or YDR or FGU or RSO or ZXY or ABC will be. In which case, SARS will have been a test run of sorts. "Let's see how they react. Let's see how much fear and how many travel bans we can make them swallow. Let's test out our global surveillance and security and suppression cops."

WITHOUT EVER FINDING A GERM. WITH NO GERM. NONE. POOF.

SARS: THE DISEASE NOW TIED TO ECONOMIC DOWNSWING

April 3. Hong Kong and Singapore are watching their economies slump. Hong Kong trading market sources say business is dropping off. Hotel business, travel business, tourist business.

Typical comment: "The health effect of SARS is only slightly worse than its effect on business. Haven't seen such trouble since the stock market meltdown of 1998..."

Well, it's working. People are staying home. Staying indoors.

2200 cases worldwide. 82 deaths. That's what they're saying. Wonder how many automobile-related deaths occurred yesterday.

Okay. Here is what they're NOT saying:

They have not established that SARS is one condition, as opposed to illness arising from various causes in various people.

The "virus" has not been established as the common root cause. In fact, they are guessing about several viruses. They don't have a virus. They have no reason to suspect a virus.

No profiles on those diagnosed with SARS are being released, and chances are none are being done. By profile I mean prior medical history. Why is that important? Because it would show why these people might be ill, at least some of them.

We assume that all these people were completely healthy before they contacted "SARS." That assumption is created by the fact that no medical histories have been offered, and none will be.

For example, a medical history on traveler A could show that he has had ten infections in the last year, that the drugs he was prescribed were immunosuppressive, and so on.

When you really zero in on medical histories you find out all sorts of interesting and important things. Traveler B was taking chemo recently for cancer, and his immune system is shot. Things like that.

Saying that SARS is one disease is like saying that 400 gunshot wounds inflicted in 20 countries over a six-week span were all inflicted by the same gunman. If you're going to say that, you better have some real evidence.

Further, no one has announced that there is a very careful analysis of AIRPLANE-CABIN AIR QUALITY underway. Any sensible person would start there. That air carries all sorts of stuff.

No one has done a comparative survey of traveler illness over a six-week period for, say, 1995. How many people, worldwide, ended up in hospitals? How many deaths were recorded? What were the symptoms? Such a comparative probe might prove very illuminating. It might turn out that, during that 1995 time period, 2000 people got sick and 70 died---OF VARIOUS CAUSES, none of which was a mystery virus.

In other words, this is like a crime-scene investigation. Are you going to do a very detailed job, or are you going to jump to unwarranted conclusions and scare everybody out of their shirts?

Claiming that there are obvious connections between these currently ill people---person C traveled on the same plane as person D---well, that is very thin proof. It sounds compelling on the surface, but it leaves out many possibilities.

As I wrote recently, passenger C may be suffering from a piece of slightly tainted fish he ate, while D is ill from eating produce that was heavily sprayed with a pesticide or covered with e coli.

And the symptoms of SARS---shortness of breath, cough, fatigue, respiratory complications---these are sufficiently vague to bring lots of people into the net. I've known travelers who developed shortness of breath just from BEING ON A PLANE.

Cases of pneumonia in Asia are now being linked to cases in America that have not developed pneumonia. Highly suspect.

The CDC could easily have framed SARS as flu. But they haven't. They are hot to trot on a new disease. New diseases are very good for research funding. Work on new diseases brings accolades and prizes and job promotions. It's every researcher's dream to discover or get in on the ground floor of a new disease.

A great deal of time is spent trying to assert that various cases of illness are connected, and almost no time is spent trying to assert that these cases are dissimilar. That's a prejudice from the get-go.

In a story I wrote about a week ago, I unearthed a completely ignored remark from a mainstream medical investigator, who said that a strong immune system was really the best and only protection against "SARS."

That should give you an idea about the cure side, the solution, not only to "SARS," but to most diseases. Of course, this is not stressed in the press reports. And yet, a realistic inquiry on those who are now being diagnosed with SARS should jump on that right away. In what shape were the immune systems of those people?

Looking in all the wrong places, coming up with all the wrong answers.

Since I've been writing about SARS, I have received correspondence from people suggesting a number of immune-system enhancers. I appreciate this. At the same time, I would point out that one magic bullet does not work for everyone. A combination of nutrients is often a better approach.

There is a human tendency to accept propaganda about the one evil thing coming from the one root cause. Therefore, when researchers and reporters inform people that one new disease with one cause has been found, that bandwagon gets full right away. It "feels right."

We have to work against that tendency. We have to think like a really good investigator would think. We have to step back and examine the conclusions that are being stated in an entirely premature way.

Years ago, a federal medical researcher, Harry Haverkos, told me that medical researchers can be divided into two types. He called them the GROUPERS and the SPLITTERS. The groupers jump at the chance to connect instances of illness under one label. The splitters go the other way and look for differences. Harry told me we needed a lot more splitters. He was absolutely right.

The fact that Hong Kong and Singapore are seeing their economies take a hit is judged as further proof that SARS is really a dangerous health threat. As if public hysteria were part and parcel of the evidence needed to confirm the existence of a new disease. How idiotic. But how effective.

If enough people run from a perceived danger, MORE people will assume that danger is real and specific and singular. The one evil cause of the one evil thing. It's workable mind control.

And of course, these days, the idea of making people stay at home and pull in their antennae and take all their information from television is perfect. It makes people even more vulnerable to official pronouncements. It makes people even less likely to question authorities. SARS may even be promoted soon to cut down on numbers of people at war demonstrations.

To accomplish this, you don't need a germ designed in a lab. You don't need people trying to combine three viruses into one. You don't need nerve gas in a subway---although that would work too. You just need to say that a whole lot of illness in a number of people is all the same thing. That does it. That works. That puts people in a trance, a trance of fear.

Every time I see a SARS come along, I go up on the roof and yell PROVE IT.

SARS, until I see something real, stands for: Saying Anything Regarding Sickness.

PARIS - A massive virus has been found lurking in a British water cooling tower. The virus lives in single-celled organisms called amoebae and may be able to infect humans.

The virus is so large that at first researchers mistook it for bacteria. Most viruses can only be seen with electron microscopes but this one was spotted through a high quality optical microscope.

The virus was dubbed Mimivirus, short for "mimicking microbe." Didier Raoult at the Mediterranean University in Marseille and his team weren't able to detect bacterial-specific genes in the virus.

Mimivirus has at least 900 genes, an enormous figure for a virus. The team compared its genes to other viruses and found it is related to other large viruses, such as smallpox.

The virus has been classified as the first of a completely new virus family, the Mimiviridae. Its identity needs to confirmed.

British microbiologist Tom Rowbotham took the initial sample of Mimivirus from the air conditioning unit of a water cooling tower in Bradford, northern England, in 1992.

Amoebae, large single-celled organisms, are commonly found in air conditioning systems and temperate waters. Amoebae feed on germs and can harbour bacteria and viruses such as Legionella and Chlamydia pneumoniae, which can cause respiratory disease.

Raoult said blood samples from people with pneumonia showed antibodies for the virus. It has no connection to SARS virus currently spreading in the Far East, he said.

David Walker wanted to live long enough to see his children graduate from high school. He asked his oncologist if he'd make it that long. The doctor hung his head and said Walker had no more than three to five years before the colon cancer would take his life.

Nearly a decade later, Walker is cancer free. Thanks to his training as a biophysicist, he was able to decipher a biochemical riddle that enabled him to cure himself.
